Shadow of Jupiter’s largest moon looms in magnificent new Juno photo

Giant Jupiter and the shadow of its greatest moon, Ganymede, dominate the view in this newest picture from the system based mostly on a NASA spacecraft’s knowledge.

NASA’s Juno mission whizzed shut by the radiation-spewing planet for the fortieth time on Feb. 25, with the ensuing uncooked photographs of the encounter beamed residence to Earth. There, citizen scientist Thomas Thomopoulos created this gorgeous view based mostly on what was seen by the JunoCam instrument.
